Holidays and Sadness

I do not believe there are words sufficient to express the grief over losing someone you love. This year within six weeks, we lost both my mother and my oldest brother, Louis. Sometimes the grief seems overwhelming and my heart is bursting with sadness and even though this may seem a contradiction, God has given sweet joy despite the sorrow. The joy comes from the assurance God has given us that when we are united with Him, we will be reunited with them. So here’s to 3 lives that filled my life with a sweet love that goes far deeper than my heart can say. I pray as the Christmas season is upon you and sadness over losing your own loved ones fills your heart that you won’t let the sadness steal your joy. There is a joy, a peace that passes all understanding. It comes from knowing Christ, the Christ we celebrate this time of year. If you don’t know Him, I pray you would open your heart to hear His calling and if God is drawing you into a relationship with Him, that you would enter into that relationship and find the joy that can only come from knowing Him. Wishing you a Merry Christmas, yes but even more praying for a Christmas filled with Christ in you.
